Wireless M‑Bus (wM‑Bus) to NB‑IoT
The Wireless M-Bus (wM-Bus) to the NB-IoT Converter enables the collection and transmission of the data from existing meters using the open wM-Bus standard as well as the selected proprietary protocols.
The converter is particularly useful for property management companies and water utilities that need to connect their existing meters to comply with the European EED directive without the need to replace the meters themselves.

Choose ACRIOS Systems converters. Here’s why
With our hardware you can read out any wired M-Bus device on the market making it perfect retrofitting tool.
We have a full control over each part of the code in our devices. The hardware we produce can be maintained even many years after installation.
Our converters are manufactured in the Czech Republic with Czech subcontractors. Each unit undergoes final testing while focusing on the functionality of individual communication interfaces and device power consumption.
We pay close attention to the TCO - from using a coulomb counter to obtain an accurate battery life to the pre-configured units delivery with your settings.
For all the NB-IoT devices, we can perform the remote firmware updates via the NB-IoT network. This means you don't need to make any changes to the installation.
We prioritize privacy and data security—use your own SIM cards and keep sensitive data to yourself. Our part of the puzzle is the hardware and we’re happy to assist with everything else.
Good technical documentation is the foundation of quick integration. On our Wiki, you'll find integration manuals, communication protocol descriptions and videos explaining the usage.
With our converters, you can cover up to 6 floors, depending on the building type and meters. We’ve focused on sensitivity to minimize TCO as much as possible.

From common issues to proven solutions
If you have ever worked with the wM-Bus meters – perhaps as part of an effort to comply with the EED directive – you have likely encountered these following situations:
The meter transmits several telegrams, but you need only one specific type.
Meters send multiple frame types such as status, history, or alarms, while you only need one particular data telegram. The rest make integration complex and overload the system.
We filter telegrams by type, CI field, DIF/VIF, or content, and transmit only the one you actually need.
This makes integration easier and keeps data clean and accurate.
The installation includes meters with wM-Bus OMS and proprietary protocols.
Mixed environments combining OMS and proprietary protocols like Sontex Supercom, Apator Metra, or Sensus BUP cannot be handled by standard converters and usually require multiple systems.
We support both OMS and specific proprietary protocols, allowing various meters to be read by a single device.
No need to replace meters or combine multiple systems.
Each manufacturer provides readings only for its own meters, resulting in vendor lock-in.
When you have meters from several vendors, each offers its own closed system. The result is duplicated platforms, exports, and higher costs.
Our converter is fully open and sends data directly to your system.
No closed cloud, no license packages tied to a specific brand.
You prefer a battery-powered system to avoid electrical inspection and approval in the building.
Network-powered systems require electrical installation, inspection, and often the owner’s approval, which slows down projects and increases costs.
Our unit is fully battery-powered using dual D-Cell batteries with over 10 years of lifetime.
Installation is cable-free, requires no inspection, and involves no building modifications.
Meters are replaced mid-lifecycle and everything would need to be reconfigured on site.
After several years, meters are exchanged, and standard systems require manual pairing and configuration on site, increasing error risk and cost.
We support remote configuration and meter re-pairing over NB-IoT.
Replacements can be done without technician visits or on-site adjustments.
You need to deliver remote readings, for example to comply with EED, but do not want to build your own system.
Building managers and energy specialists are required to ensure remote readings and reporting, but developing an in-house system is expensive and time-consuming.
We primarily provide open hardware for direct integration but can also supply the backend.
Data are transmitted in open formats such as JSON, CSV, or API, so you can start immediately without developing your own platform.
It is unclear how many buses are needed to cover the entire building.
Every building differs in structure and materials, making it hard to estimate the number of buses required. This leads to either insufficient coverage or unnecessary oversizing.
Our bus reliably covers four floors regardless of building type, whether brick, panel, or modern construction.
In practice, it often handles even more, but the “four-floor rule” ensures easy planning of range and budget.
Tell us what you need. We’ll find the best solution together.
