The Wireless M-Bus (wM-Bus) to the NB-IoT Converter enables the collection and transmission of the data from existing meters using the open wM-Bus standard as well as the selected proprietary protocols.

The converter is particularly useful for property management companies and water utilities that need to connect their existing meters to comply with the European EED directive without the need to replace the meters themselves.

How Does it Work?
NB-IoT connectivity – today, the  Narrowband IoT coverage is available almost everywhere, with a reach even in hard-to-access areas. Additionally, SIM cards can be obtained for as little as 1 EUR per year.
The antenna connector for the wM-Bus reception is designed to minimize losses, ensuring the highest possible reception sensitivity. As a result, we can cover up to 6 floors, depending on the type of building.
The internal NB-IoT antenna provides sufficient coverage and eliminates the need for two external antennas, preventing the possibility of them being swapped during the installation.
Thanks to the standard SMA connector, you can use a cable to extend the antenna from the hard-to-reach places.

What Obstacles Might You Encounter?
If you have ever worked with the wM-Bus meters—perhaps as part of an effort to comply with the EED directive—you have likely encountered these following situations:
Possible Issues:
  • The meter sends multiple telegrams, but you only need one specific one.
  • The meter reports under a radio ID, but you only have the serial number of the water meter—or vice versa.
