Wired M‑Bus to LoRaWAN
The ACRIOS M-Bus to the LoRaWAN converter is designed for efficient readings of any wired M-Bus meters – typically electricity meters, water meters and heat meters, especially in the district heating industry. The device allows the integration of traditional M-Bus meters into the LoRaWAN wireless network, facilitating the data collection on consumption in intervals as short as fifteen minutes.
The solution from ACRIOS Systems significantly reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) of projects requiring frequent remote readings of the M-Bus meters, thanks to features like remote configuration, plug-and-play setup or the WAGO terminals for quick installation.

Choose ACRIOS Systems converters. Here’s why
With our hardware you can read out any wired M-Bus device on the market making it perfect retrofitting tool.
We have a full control over each part of the code in our devices. The hardware we produce can be maintained even many years after installation.
Our converters are manufactured in the Czech Republic with Czech subcontractors. Each unit undergoes final testing while focusing on the functionality of individual communication interfaces and device power consumption.
We pay close attention to the TCO - from using a coulomb counter to obtain an accurate battery life to the pre-configured units delivery with your settings.
Set the primary or the secondary addressing of meters over the LoRaWAN network, find out how many meters are connected or change the reading period directly from your system without the need for local configuration.
We forward the data as a standard M-Bus frame, either shortened by the desired VIF DIF values or in full pack. This allows any M-Bus parser to be used for the data interpretation, needless to say that we can provide you the parser to facilitate the easiest possible onboarding.
Good technical documentation is the foundation of quick integration. On our Wiki, you'll find integration manuals, communication protocol descriptions and videos explaining the usage.
We can read up to 16 connected devices with a single converter, giving you maximum flexibility during installation without the need of a converter for each meter, thus reducing the project costs.

From common issues to proven solutions
If you've ever searched for a solution for the wired M‑Bus meters – such as heat meters or water meters – and their connection to a LoRaWAN network, you have likely encountered the following situations:
M-Bus installation is slow, costly, and depends on specialists.
Each system combines meters with different behaviour (addressing, timing, bus power), which must be manually tuned by experts. Scaling rollouts becomes expensive.
ACRIOS converters include an installation wizard that automatically detects all connected meters, configures addressing, timing, and bus levels. Technicians just follow the guide, no training required.
No power supply available, conventional concentrators can’t be used.
In heat exchangers or shafts there’s often no access to electricity. Standard concentrators need 230 V → installation and revision costs.
Our converter powers the M-Bus line from its own battery.
No wiring, no power installation, no electrical inspection. Setup takes just a few minutes.
M-Bus telegrams are too long for LoRaWAN, data get lost.
Many meters (e.g. heat or flow meters) send telegrams of hundreds of bytes, which exceed LoRaWAN limits and break messages.
ACRIOS automatically optimises and shortens M-Bus telegrams without losing information. Longer messages are intelligently split into multiple packets that stay within duty cycle limits and remain compatible with any M-Bus parser.
Meter replacement means repeating setup and extra costs.
When a meter is replaced, conventional concentrators require on-site reconfiguration. This leads to service visits, delays, and higher costs.
ACRIOS enables remote configuration and updates via NB-IoT. New meters can be added or re-addressed remotely, without technician visits.
