Bring your wM‑Bus & BUP meters to NB-IoT
Eliminate blind spots in your meter reading network. The wM-Bus bridge relays data over NB-IoT from hard-to-reach meters, with an IP68-rated housing for outdoor installation. Supports both wM-Bus OMS and Sensus BUP protocols.

Manual reading visits are your real cost
Based on a conservative estimate of €25 per site visit – technician time, travel, admin typical for Central European deployments. In some countries, the legislation dictates weekly readings, for the calculation we use monthly
Reading costs are estimated based on efficiency savings. Reading a full street with no travel time between meters costs less than €25 per meter. The same applies to the 1,500 residential meters across the city, using walk-by readouts with occasional in-person meter checks.
Built for these situations
If it speaks OMS wM-Bus or Sensus protocol, the bridge reads it. Mixed manufacturers, one data stream, no vendor lock-in.
Bridge has a true IP68 protection against water or dust; a crucial feature for use in water metering shafts ensuring long service life.
No device-management platform, or no time to integrate? We'll host it and send data straight to your systems, then hand over whenever you're ready.
Devices arrive ready to install, with all the installation material included. Setup takes minutes, with no on-site configuration. Perfect for large-scale rollouts.
Every detail counts in the field

- Commissioning process takes 3 minutes – scan the meters around you, select the ones you want and leave

Fits the tightest shaft
- 6 fixation points - 4x M4 screw or 2x oval hole for a zip tie
- Mount your way - screw it to the wall or strap it to the pipe, whatever the pit allows
- Compact - 88 x 68 x 31 mm, 220 g, tucks under the lid
Set up in minutes, not hours
No laptop, no cable, no scripting. Hold your phone to the ACR-MC bridge, let it scan the meters nearby, pick the ones you want, and the device is live. It all runs over NFC in our Android app, the same gesture your team already uses on the water meters.
Activate
Tap the phone with our configuration app and activate the device
Scan
Let the device scan for 1 minute to find meters around you - both wM-Bus OMS and Sensus BUP
Select
Select the meters you want to read and finish the configuration

Why installers choose ACRIOS
Water shafts are permanently damp, and a silica gel sachet holds out only until it saturates. So we do not rely on one. The ACR-MC electronics are fully potted, leaving no air and no path for moisture to reach them.
We can receive data not only from wM-Bus OMS meters, but also from Sensus BUP proprietary protocol.
The business of water utilities is often not an IT or development of new tools. That's why we can also provide you with our device management tool, reducing the entry barrier to a minimum. You don't need an IT education to get data from your meters.
Designed and produced in the Czech Republic. Full firmware control, Cyber Resilience Act ready, long-term support guaranteed.
The obvious alternative often doesn't exist
Replacing every meter with a NB-IoT model means heavy CAPEX and real workflow implications. Plus, the NB-IoT water meter portfolio can be quite limited for now.
Full NB-IoT replacement
- The choice of NB-IoT meters is still narrow next to the huge range of wM-Bus meters on the market
- You end up replacing meters that still work perfectly and would otherwise stay in service for years
- You need to answer "What if I can't get the signal out of the shaft" as you can not add extra NB-IoT gateway

ACRIOS wM-Bus bridge
- Keep the meters you already have in the ground, so CAPEX stays low and nothing working gets scrapped
- Lift the signal out of the shaft instead of adding gateways to reach it, so you cover the hard spots without densifying the network
- Works with the wM-Bus OMS and Sensus BUP meters already in the field, not just the short NB-IoT list
For wired M-Bus, pulse or Modbus meters, ACRIOS makes converters for those protocols too. Ask us if your site has mixed meter types.

Integrate into your existing platform.
No middleware required.
The bridge sends standard M-Bus frames over LoRaWAN, any system that works with M-Bus can parse them directly. No ACRIOS software required. An optional management platform is available if you need it.
Direct integration into your platform
The wM-Bus bridge can be integrated directly with any network server. The communication protocol is fully documented and you don't need any platform or 3rd party software.
- Fully documented protocol for integration
- Compatible with any NB-IoT network server
- No license, no lock-in, no ongoing fees
ACRIOS Platform
If you don't have a platform yet, or need a dedicated metering management layer, ACRIOS offers a hosted web platform for device management, group allocation, and data export.
- Hosted by ACRIOS or deployed on your servers
- Installation & unit management
- REST API for custom integrations (OAS3)
- Used in production across water utilities and building operators
Works with any NB-IoT network
The wM-Bus bridge uses UDP protocol over NB-IoT – any NB-IoT network can receive and forward the frames.
Trusted by teams across Europe
The solution is quick to install, requires no training and proves to be stable over time. We offer the ACRIOS remote reading solutions to all of our customers who want to comply with the EED decree.
DEPLOYMENT
We successfully integrated the ACRIOS converter in our smart metering project, seamlessly connecting hundreds of meters. Performance and stability have been outstanding, even in challenging environments.
We were searching for a way to connect existing M-Bus meters to NB-IoT and found the solution provided by ACRIOS valuable for exactly these use cases.

Frequently asked questions
Everything a first-time buyer typically wants to know. If your question isn't here, ask us directly.
It reads both wM-Bus OMS-compliant meters and the proprietary Sensus BUP protocol, in T1 or C1 mode, on 868 MHz or 433 MHz. If your meter isn't on either list, send us the datasheet and we'll confirm compatibility.
Up to 3 per bridge, though the main use case is 1:1, one bridge per meter. This makes it a good fit for individual pits and shafts rather than aggregating a whole cluster.
Yes. The enclosure is fully potted, no air gap, no silica gel, no moisture path to the electronics. It's built specifically for permanently damp water shafts, not just splash-resistant for outdoor use.
No. The bridge sends standard M-Bus frames over NB-IoT; any system that can receive and parse M-Bus data can use them directly. The ACRIOS platform is an optional add-on if you want hosted device management and unified data export instead of building that yourself.
Yes. Configuration changes and meter re-pairing can be pushed over NB-IoT downlink, and firmware updates are delivered over the air, so you don't need physical access to the device after deployment.
Yes. Sample units are available for testing, pilot projects and integration validation before larger deployments.
